The Brief
Dam improvement works need geotechnical certainty about how the surrounding rock and soil will behave under load, particularly for structures like Paradise Dam and Wivenhoe Dam, where the consequence of getting it wrong is severe.
What We Delivered
PGS delivered classification testing, Emerson Class dispersion testing, CU Triaxial testing, Unconfined Compressive Strength (UCS) testing and Point Load and Indirect Tensile (Brazilian) testing across the dam improvement programs.
The Result
Engineers received NATA-accredited data on rock and soil strength characteristics to inform dam improvement design decisions with confidence, backed by PGS's accredited scope against Australian and international standards.
