Heritage power station contamination remediation
Contaminated land investigation, HAZMAT clearance and remediation planning for a 9-hectare heritage redevelopment site.
The Brief
The historic East Perth Power Station (1916–1981) sat across four parcels classified under the Contaminated Sites Act 2003 as either requiring investigation or remediation, a heritage site with decades of industrial history to unpick before redevelopment could proceed.
What We Delivered
PTG delivered Preliminary Site Investigations and Sampling Analysis Quality Plans with Conceptual Site Models, intrusive investigations across soil, groundwater, Swan River sediment, biota, vapour and surface water, hazardous material audits and registers, acid sulfate soil investigations, Human Health and Environmental Risk Assessments, and remediation option assessment, design and planning. All of this was subject to audit by a DWER-accredited Contaminated Sites Auditor.
The Result
The audit process produced a Voluntary Audit Report supporting site reclassification, clearing the path for redevelopment of a historically significant 9-hectare site while meeting all state contamination and heritage obligations.
