Compaction and material quality testing supporting an $80 million four-lane road widening project.
The Brief
Widening Cleveland–Redland Bay Road from two to four lanes between Magnolia Parade and Benfer Road required not just standard compaction verification but also classification for soils prone to acid sulfate conditions along the corridor.
What We Delivered
Protest carried out material testing to assess quality and suitability against project specifications, compaction testing to verify soil and pavement layer density, and Emerson's testing to classify soil stability in acid sulfate–prone conditions.
The Result
Seymour Whyte Constructions delivered a durable, safe upgraded roadway for the Redland Bay community, with acid sulfate soil risks identified and managed before they could affect long-term pavement performance.
