Custom gallery drilling and multi-method core investigation across three major dam sites for a Tier 1 client.
The Brief
Investigating inside dam galleries means working in confined, safety-critical spaces that standard drill rigs simply can't access. The work spanned three separate dam locations for the same Tier 1 client, each with its own access constraints.
What We Delivered
Mapstone developed custom gallery drill rigs in-house specifically to meet the confined-access requirements inside the dam galleries, combining these with track and truck-mounted platforms across a full range of methods: vertical NMLC, angled HQ, PQ and 6C core drilling.
The Result
All three dam locations were fully instrumented post-drilling, giving the client consistent, comparable data across sites despite the very different access conditions at each, and proving out equipment Mapstone now deploys on similar confined-access dam work.
